I didn’t wear a MAGA hat

I live in a BLUE state

I didn’t want to be accused

Of racism and hate

And even though the candidate

Of course, didn’t stand for that

I thought, “Why be provocative

And wear a MAGA hat?”

No stickers on my bumper

My Prius didn’t need it

And then there was the likelihood

That someone would have keyed it

No yard signs on my plastic grass

To show affiliation

I kind of like my neighbors

And who wants a confrontation

I’ll write on social media

Behind a nom de plume

My co-workers will never know

“That guy” is in the room

I’ll stay out of Seattle

And certain parts of Boston

I’ll visit some of Texas

But keep avoiding Austin

We’re evenly divided

Say the polls in this great nation

So why is it “the other side”

Shows no such hesitation

They shout and keep demanding

Employers not desert them

Throw stones with growing confidence

That  no one’s going to hurt them

Eliminate all doubt

And put my theory to the test

Take a walk and wear a Star of David

On your chest

I’m not proud of a lot

But first of all is that

I never even had the guts

To wear a MAGA hat
