My hair is grey and thinning
My skin is dry and blotching
If there’s more than three commercials
I forget what show I’m watching
If I get up to get something
Some urgent calling heeded
I stand there in the hallway
Thinking, what was it I needed
I was never very good at names
And you may find that funny
But at least around my house
I can holler “Son” and “Honey”
But as bad as I’ve been failing
And it surely is a curse
My memory is challenged
But the media’s is worse
I know they’re old and tired
And there’s so much to ignore
But they’ve totally forgotten
There’s a European War
We abandoned the Afghanis
Leaving armaments behind
And our border is in crisis
These things seem to slip their mind
It’s true they have access to
The finest minds and scholars
But out here where I’m living
Gas is still five dollars
Oh, I know they want to find someone
And treat him like a hero
But no matter how you spin it
Inflation isn’t zero
That one is a doozy
But I guess we can suppose he
Wants to be a leader
Whose spectacles are rosy
I know the bar is very low
Of what for wisdom passes
But reality is not transformed
By aviator glasses
