No matter your opinion
Of our strong and storied nation
There’s one way we still lead the world
And that’s in regulation
There’s rules about the kind of fuel
You put into your cars
And rules about the wood
That you can use to make guitars
Crimes that count as Federal
Are countless as the stars
You can’t bring kids in strollers
When you tour the nation’s zoo
In pet stores you can’t keep the fish
Where you keep monkeys too
There’s lots of ways that you can earn
Your government’s condemn-ity
Like selling turtle eggs
Or hitting golf balls in Yosemite
Rules so idiotic
That I hesitate to share
Like the one that sets the limits
Of your distance to a bear
So if you’re mauled on public land
Now or any time
Not only are you lunchmeat
But you’re guilty of a crime
The only thing they won’t control
(Here, let me check my notes)
Are the perilous procedures
For the way the nation votes
A laws that deals with voting
Is suppression and I quote
Except that little document
The Democrats just wrote
Think DC is broken?
Well, here’s one for the ages
HR 1 deregulates
In about 500 pages
So don’t pass legislation
As a way to manage votin’
Cause anything to do with votes
Is naturally verboten
