Now that the dust has settled
I think that it’s a must
To learn what lessons can be learned
From all the settled dust
Pollsters found the outcome
Incredibly distressing
And did no better than a coin
Or simple random guessing
The crying pundits have produced
Real shortages of tissues
Perhaps instead of polling
They should concentrate on issues
We saw a grand experiment
Play out as we expected
Can someone be exalted
Who was formerly rejected
The media, like Hollywood
Can only go so far
And talent IS required
If you want to be a star
Common sense rose from the dead
To show the world who’s boss
There is a path we will not take
A bridge we will not cross
Incumbency is hard to beat
That’s often been discussed
But incumbents can be beaten
When they lose the people’s trust
Another blatant lesson
The recent vote afforded
Is that multiple disasters
Will never be rewarded
No matter what restrictions
Our censors may enact
Most folks in this country know
A fable from a fact
An unlike the apocalypse
We know the moment when
On January 20th
The dust will fly again
