I applaud the Founding Fathers

For they saw the future clearly

Their foresight was perfection

Well, if not so, very nearly

In establishing three branches

With their balances and checks

They distributed the power

With some practical effects

Though the law could change direction

It would never be abrupt

And though subject to corruption

Never totally corrupt

But the one thing that they missed on

In that famous founding hour

Is that one of those three branches

Would just abrogate their power

I am speaking of the Congress

It’s not subject to debate

Surrendering their check

To the administrative state

It really doesn’t matter

How the legislation passes

When they leave the regulations

To the unelected masses

In that crazy intersection

Where both true and false collide

They bind their wrists together

And then say their hands are tied

And whenever one branch falters

Despite their many talents

They push the other branches

Equally off-balance

We’ve all had cause to witness

The horrors it creates

When Executive gives orders

And the SCOTUS legislates

We might evade disasters

And the horrors of the mob

If each of these three branches

Would just simply do their job.
