The government that governs now
Has taken the position
That they would rather ask us for forgiveness
Than permission
Now that’s a winning trait
If you’re a character in fiction
But when you deal in Justice
It’s a bit of contradiction
To say you lack the power
As you also give the order

And calling it a border
Why should you have to bother
To “fix” the court with packing
If you can take an action
Where authority is lacking
Old Joe wouldn’t ever think of that

It seems that for the last few years
The least of their offences
Was lying to the FISA court
And dodging consequences
Or giving sketchy answers
To investigating groups
And when, at last, you’re called on it
Respond by saying “Ooops”
It’s really very clever
A sophisticated trick
And if you fail to grasp that
Well, you might just be a hick
But if to lawless power
You’ve shown you’re an aspirant
I’m taking the position that
You might just be a tyrant
