Politics and language
Seem to go through paths and phases
And I’m thinking we’re now living through
The "Time of Latin Phrases"

For the Congress is deciding
If the President should go
For engaging in discussions
Touching on a quid pro quo

While ignoring, in their frenzy
What his adversary did
Which, when looked at, a piori
Sure sounds like a quo pro quid

For if Hunter had a problem
Sure as shooting Joe would fix it
And this isn’t any rumor
We all heard it ipse dixit

Then some senators wrote letters
Where they tried to up the ante
One was signed by old Pat Leahy
And we caught him in flagrante

Yes, I read the pseudo-transcript
And I’m sorry, truth to tell I
See no legal explanation
For the current casus belli

Sure the papers have opinions
And the editors will write ‘em
But I don’t think they will sway me
If they write ad infinitum

For the planet’s in a crisis
And the polar bears, bereft
And we only have nine years, six months
And forty minutes left

How can Congress be distracted
Their heads buried in the sand
When there’s borders to be opened
Guns to seize and bottles banned?

The radicals are happy
AOC sure thinks it’s neat-o
But if I were Ms. Pelosi
I would exercise my veto

Yes, I’m open to discussion
And I’ll happily relax
If my idiot opponents cease
Ad hominem attacks
