The first debates are over
Who will make the second round?
The air is full of outrage
There are gauntlets on the ground
They’ve made a score of promises
And lit them up in neon
Minor, are there differences
But one thing they agree on
The man they hate, who daily in
The nation’s house is resident,
Has made them see what they did not
When dear Barack was President
As fine a leader as he was,
As woke as we were then
The country wasn’t great at all
So, can’t be great again
The triumph of Obamacare
With all its hype and buzz
They now can see how woefully
Inadequate it was
And when he said he’d slow the growth
Of college costs by half
What limited ambition!
My Lord, it is to laugh!
Remember when he gave a speech
And some guy shouted “Liar!”
He thought the tax rates then were fine
But these guys want them higher
And as the race moves forward
And these things get debated
It’s clear that this group is so woke
They’re super-caffeinated
Call them politicians
Or you can call them hacks
But judge them by their wokeness
And they’re all insomniacs
The message that they’re sending
Isn’t what they think at all
Trump is not diminished
It’s Obama who looks small
