I make no claim to higher calling

If I’m not fallen; well, I’m falling

But here’s a fact and you all know it’s

Prophets way back when were poets

Old Moses said we all should be one

You know a prophet when you see one

And with so much that needs decrying

I feel the need for prophesying

Here’s a point those prophets stressed

No country was like this one blessed

For with great faith, our leaders led

Important, as de Tocqueville said

Now leaders claim to be devout

While throwing all the doctrine out

And willingly so many followed

Eagerly that nonsense swallowed

Abandoning each holy book

Those leaders let us off the hook

So given all our good and treasure

We gave up grace and turned to pleasure

Then suddenly the pleasure stopped

And out from us the bottom dropped

In times like these I find it odd

That few have said, let’s turn to God

Instead, as this pandemic lurches

They locked the doors and closed the churches

And we, as this drags year to year

Have locked ourselves inside our fear

Now I can say without a doubt

From this there’s only one way out

Reflect, and when your grief is grieved

Return to what you once believed

For in the very darkest hour

Trust there is a higher power

And let that trust renew your heart

It’s not a lot…but it’s a start.
