The MP’s Song
Wimpole: (speaking) Of course, there was a vote.  And I’m pretty sure the
votes were counted.  But, as a rule, everything is subject
to…um….interpretation.
(Sings)
Now, I don’t want to be quoted
But when the people voted
All the MPs noted
That we didn’t know what they meant
(They didn’t know what it meant)
There was just some discontent
And we don’t know what they meant
Now their fury has been spent  (laughs)
So we’ve ducked our heads like gophers
As we’ve lightened up our loafers
On these great green leather sofas
In the halls of Parliament
In the halls of Parliament
Now because of duplicity and greed
We’ll give up what we won at Runnymede
Won at Runnymede
Reason not the need
Now the money has been spent…..
Everybody likes to vent
And we’re governed by consent
But we don’t know what they meant
Now because of duplicity and greed
We’ll give up what we won at Runnymede
Won at Runnymede
Reason not the need
Now the money has been spent…..
Everybody likes to vent
And we’re governed by consent
But we don’t know what they meant !
