Some governors and mayors
They like to rail and holler
Defending their constituents
Who want to live in squalor
Standing for the principle
For which they vow to fight
That being prey to criminals
Should be a civil right
They’ve come to the conclusion
Which they’ve run through their committees
That crime is just a price you pay
For living in big cities
They also like to argue
Which I find rather odd
That the rights of every person
Do not derive from God
They publish referenda
And promulgate petitions
Supporting the above
And other ludicrous positions
They can’t believe the things they say
(And say with deep conviction)
Like giving out syringes
Will lead to less addiction
Support for these positions
Is as thin as any wafer
Like defunding law enforcement
Is the way to keep you safer
The ideas that they shepherd
Are leading lambs to slaughter
Like trying to fight fires
Without sufficient water
Even more astounding
They shout this nonsense loudly
Calling our attention to
The way they’re foolish proudly
I think they will discover
When the final vote is rendered
That they’ll pay the price in power
For the freedoms they’ve surrendered
Step Aside
Commission a poem from Joe
Tell him the story. He'll find the verse in it.
