Yoohoo, Mr. Warner. I’m Back!

I’ve called the Golden State some names

Well, maybe one or two

A sorry nest of Vipers

Which happens to be true

The roads are paved with promises —

Almost before they’re spoken

Just like the failing 405

Those promises are broken

Our leaders measure progress

By how much cash they’ve spent

And never give a second thought

To where the money went

I’ve told myself I’m leaving

There isn’t any doubt

I’ll board the first bus going

Or catch the last plane out

Then, this week, for a weekend

I found myself in Philly

And let’s just say I found it there

JUST… a little chilly

Moments from our landing

A winter storm came calling

A thrill of swirling flurries

That just would not stop falling

The streets, the roofs, the runways

Were shimmering and white

And icy slush was piled up

Almost to mailbox height

We passed the local golf course
Where all the posh folks play

They could be having tee times

Somewhere in early May

I called my cardiologist

I thought hat he should know

I needed his permission slip

To try and shovel snow

I dipped my frozen fingers

In the cocoa I was drinking

And figured I should give some thought

Perhaps, to second thinking

It only took a little cold

To finally put me wise

Forgive me California

I apologize
