No More Safe Seats

When Democrats have power

They do what they desire

But when the GOP responds

It sets their hair on fire

In Maryland and Illinois

To keep their districts blue

They’ve drawn “strategic” borders

And there’s nothing we can do

But Texas legislators

They demand a higher standard

Refusing to allow their state

To be so Gerrymandered

Fleeing to Chicago

It seems so self-defeating

Aren’t they afraid they’ll get

A “MAGA-Country” greeting?

Newsom grabbed a microphone

To bully us and phony us

Is there anyone alive

Who sounds so sanctimonious

In sunny California

For those still taking notes

Red got 17 percent–of seats

With 40 percent–of votes

The Citizens Commission

The ones who draw the borders

They throw up their hands and say

“We only followed orders.”

Well, I have a suggestion…

(I know I say that rarely)

Perhaps we can employ AI

To draw the districts fairly

Where every district’s residents

Are split at fifty-fifty

O! What an election night

Wouldn’t that be nifty?

Commission a poem from Joe

Tell him the story. He'll find the verse in it.
