It’s MY Party

As we lead up to elections

Which this season could be stinging

I’ll bet my bottom dollar

That my cell phone will be ringing

Through my iPhone and my landline

I expect solicitations

Focused on securing

Some political donations

Hello, the voice will greet me

With enthusiastic glee

And say they represent

The California GOP

I will tell them, “You can’t fool me

With this nonsense that you bring.

I’ve been living here for thirty years

I know there’s no such thing!”

It was diff’rent when I moved here

When the state was hale and hearty

And we had a few electeds

Who were in the Grand Old Party

But consultants, I’m quite certain

Told the honchos with a sneer

We have seen the demographics

So don’t waste your money here

So each year decline continues

And our expectations fade

From the very worst decision

That a party ever made

Here’s a state in every aspect

Where the outcomes are the bleakest

Why not tackle your opponents

Where their run game is the weakest

These are not your father’s liberals

Who were often times reliable

But socialistic rebels

Who are clearly certifiable

I’ll contribute to all causes

I’ve got money in the jar

But I need you to assure me

That’s you’ll fight them where they are
