Cause I really want to know
Are you better off today
Than you were six months ago?
Is your bottom line improving
Do you think that by and large
You feel confident to say
There’s someone competent in charge
I know that other fellow
Was obstinate and mean
But he sure knew how to keep the lid
On pricey gasoline
Do you feel you have a platform
Where you can air your views
Has there been an overemphasis
On ice cream in the news?
Do you like it when he whispers
(Do you find it condescending)
Are you pleased with the efficient way
The crises are all ending
Are you worried for your safety
Are you worried for your rights
Does crime in your community
Keep you up at nights?
I know you found that other guy
Boorish and abusive
And some of you like government
To be somewhat intrusive
Is the FBI transparent
Is Congress to be trusted
Do you turn on cable programs
And then turn them off, disgusted
Well, these months sure weren’t boring
You might even call them thrilling
And I’m sure we’ll make another six
Certainly… God willing.
