Homelessmess

Hey people, stop the presses

Or refresh your devices

The Mayor of Los Angeles

Has fixed the homeless crisis

Because of her attention

And all the money spent

The number here of homeless

Has gone down 4 percent

It’s so crowded no one goes there

Or so said Yogi Berra

To me a slip of 4%

Seems like a rounding error

So how was this accomplished

How was the problem solved?

The way they count the homeless

Has conveniently, evolved

Attempting to eliminate

The counting hurley-burley

The volunteers got started late

And gave up counting early

They couldn’t count in alleyways

Or in the parks or beaches

No wonder it’s a triumph

And the mayor’s giving speeches

Unless my eyes deceive me

The number here increases

But that dear old LA Times

Just kissed her press releases

Despite the obfuscation

Something is improving

The public knows the mayor lies

It’s when her lips are moving

Commission a poem from Joe

Tell him the story. He'll find the verse in it.
