Labor Day is over

Summer’s coming to an end

And now, before you know it

We’ll be seeing an old friend

He’s been away a while

But he loves it in the fall

You might see him at a ballgame

You could meet him at the mall

He’s not a pleasant fellow

I don’t really miss him much

You’ve surely met him once before

He likes to keep in touch

He isn’t very friendly

His behavior is outrageous

The best thing you can say–

The fellow really is contagious

Yes, our old friend’s name is COVID

And they say he’s on the way

Bringing lots of presents

That are sure to make your day

I know that you remember him

He closed your church and schools

And brought along behind himself

A book of doubtful rules

The FDA banned medicines

I know because I read it

And then, just seven weeks ago

They said they never said it

Vaccines were required

The powers that be bid it

Now pressed on consequences

They say they never did it

Will we go along again

Or has the tide been turned

We’ve surely learned our lesson

But what lessons have we learned?
