Fire Fire Aid

We feel for fire victims

And all of their frustrations

When Rock ‘n Rollers start to sing

We’re moved to make donations

Celebrities assure us

Between the songs and verses

The money we contribute

Will go straight to victims’ purses

We reached into our pockets

Donated what we could

Then smiled with satisfaction

That we’d all done something good

But this is California

Here the scams are greener

And in my life, I’ll tell you

I’ve seen cesspools that were cleaner

Instead of resurrecting homes

With walls and floors and soffits

They handed all the money

To some interesting non-profits

They built a lovely playground

Now that should bring some smiles

But the place is empty

As there’s ash around for miles

The thing about this story

That gives a person pause is

They said they’d help the victims

And not a dozen causes

I don’t wish to be counted

With a group of rank contrarians

But funds should go to veterans

And not to veterinarians

Now, in response to critics

They’ve hired legal elves

And made the big announcement

They’ll investigate themselves

A law firm will do audits

Which take months of execution

And cost a lot of money

Could you make a contribution?
