Exeunt Omnes

I've lived through 8 pontificates

7 are now dead

This is the first encyclical

That I have ever read

Now, readings in theology

Are strictly for the nerdy

And pontiffs to my knowledge

Can be just a little wordy

Therefore upon reflection

I've penned this simple ode

To see if we can reconcile

The ways of God to Code

Before mankind's creation

The brightest Angel fell

He wouldn't serve in heaven

But preferred command in hell

Since the human race was made

He's used his low position

In effort to convince us

To share that same ambition

He’s plied us with sweet luxuries

As part of his temptation

All the seven vices and

The long summer vacation

And if A.I. fills all our needs

The even and the odd

Man, in his opinion

Will have no more need for God

Our pride will be enormous

Our faith will be in tatters

Our senses full of everything

And empty of what matters

So all early adopters

Before you choose this path

We’ve long tested God’s patience

Let’s not provoke His wrath

Commission a poem from Joe

Tell him the story. He'll find the verse in it.
