I didn’t take economics

It didn’t seem like fun

I don’t think I could even pass

Statistics 101

I didn’t talk “supply side”

With my father or my mother

(Whatever side that she was on

He was on the other)

My bank account called “Checking”

Got deposits to begin it

I figure if some checks are left

There must be money in it

Monetary theory

I know some folks who love it

But all I know about hard cash

Is I ain’t got much of it

Not to worry Little Joe

Continue living large

Elites from all the Ivy Leagues

Are comfortably in charge

But we’ve got debts and deficits

(Says one man who’s reviled)

A pile of IOU s

That all those geniuses compiled

We’ve left it to those other guys

To fiddle and discuss

They’ve made a ruddy mess of it

So now it’s up to us

I’m told there may be pain

Although they aren’t certain how

To their dire warnings, I’d say,

“What do we have now?’

I know some friends and followers

Will clearly disagree

But I, for one, will hunker down

And calmly wait and see.
