There’s a sunny yellow school bus

I remember from my youth

It met me on the corner

For my journey toward the truth

The driver’s name was Gino

And when our trip was done

I stumbled down the steps

And into PS 41

The school bus is an icon

A symbol in this nation

For unity, community

And solid education

How could this stately symbol

In which our trust is placed

Transform into a witness

Of mismanagement and waste

For in the name of climate change

Which everyone discusses

We coughed up in the millions

For some sleek electric buses

But the company went bankrupt

By some unseen circumstance

We didn’t get all the busses

That we paid for in advance

Explain to me in simple words

As if my brain expired

How you can go kaput

When sales are subsidized and required

Like DOGE, we ask the question

For we all demand to know

With unprecedented spending

Where did all the money go?

Is it kickbacks or incompetence

I say this under oath

Based on all the evidence

I judge it to be both
