If I did all my homework
And played nice with the boys
Didn’t aggravate my sisters
And put away my toys
If I did only good things
And didn’t do nothin’ bad
I got to stay up late
All the way till eight
And listen to Vin Scully with my Dad
Sitting there beside him
Cheering for the team
One day he would cheer for me
Oh well, a boy can dream
If I read all my lessons
And didn’t slam any doors
If I ate all that broccoli
And handled all my chores
If I said please and thank you
And didn’t get momma mad
I got to stay up late
All the way to eight
And listen to Vin Scully with my dad.
I had a lot of real good times
But the best I ever had
Was when both of us when men
And I stayed up till ten
To listen to Vin Scully with my dad.
He told us all those stories
And things that players did
I didn’t get to the major leagues
But most nights with my kid
If he said please and thank you
And had his homework done
We got to stay up late
All the way till eight--
I’d listen to Vin Scully with my son
