Because I have a lack of trust
In all things from the media
To do research on Barbara Bush
I clicked on Wikipedia

And what I saw up on my screen…
It came as quite a shock
Instead of typing Barbara Bush
I’d typed in Barbara Bach

Had I been standing by a cliff
A light breeze might have shoved me
How did I miss that Barbara’d been
Cast in “The Spy Who Loved Me”

But soon I saw what I had done
And had a little laugh
What better title could there be
For George’s better half

To wed a coming congressman
That happens every day
But few are they that share the cares
Of heads of CIA

I learned of her beginnings
And the days that brought her fame
I learned to my surprised delight
Our birthdays are the same

I learned how from deep sorrow
The great are not exempt
And how, with class, to deal
With admiration and contempt

To say what you believe in
And honor speech that’s free
By showing that you don’t despise
But deeply disagree

Against the cold, dark morning
She firmly set her face
And chose her way of going
With dignity and grace

Those she loved and cherished
I’d say that they were blessed
We’re glad we knew you Barbara Bush
In peace, eternal, rest
