Chief among all
The protective charms
Is the shielding strength
Of a mother’s arms
Or a wily wizard
Might effect escape
With a whispered spell
Or a crafty cape
Apart from those options
Every child discovers
How to hide from monsters
Under the covers
From the richest monarch
To the poorest waif
We all require
Someplace safe
It’s the place, in a crisis
Every creature goes
Where the breath comes easy
And the heartbeat slows
Many now listening
Might find this odd
But for many others
It’s the House of God
For the air there potentially
Can heal the sick
And the doors are substantial
And the walls are thick
And respect is required
For within He dwells
As we should be reminded
When we hear the bells
So I feel like on Wednesday
That a nation died
For it’s clearly apparent
There’s no place to hide
