It’s been a quiet week, at last
I wish that were the norm
Alas, I speculate it’s just
The calm before the storm

Every Chief Exec enjoys
A time when pundits swoon
But I expect a hurricane
And not a honeymoon

Their former river of restraint
Is measured now in ounces
And it won’t take a moment more
Before the press corps pounces

Every brick in any wall,
Each call to cut our taxes
Will be reported just as if
The earth tipped off its axis

Each phone call made will open up
Another great debate
Each tweet will be examined as
A crime against the State

Every off-hand comment
Will be scanned for its perversity
And every nomination
An affront to our diversity

And on the day Obamacare repeal
Comes up I’m bettin’
The press will treat the moment
Like a glimpse of Armageddon

These things I speak of will occur
Before your cheese is curded
So cinch your breastplate up, my friends
Make sure your loins are girded

Then drink a cup of Christmas cheer
And sing a Christmas song
Enjoy our little holiday
Cause folks, it won’t last long
