Those who long for justice
See him as the last resort
But, alas, we’re all still waiting
For the IG to report.

It seems that we've been waiting
And we're waiting without stop
One shoe’s on the carpet
But the other one won't drop

With bated breath we waited for
The Mueller screed and summary
While speculating pundits
Treated us to fluff and flummery

We’re waiting for the court
To say which cases that they'll touch
We wait for their pronouncements
Then they really don't say much

We’re waiting for the Fed to speak
Or for a China deal
Just like some seer seeing
What the entrails will reveal

We’re waiting for apocalypse
And climate change disaster
I hear the Second Coming’s coming
But that’s coming faster

It’s getting so I’m breathless
Someone fetch me my inhaler
We’re all just like Penelope
Still waiting for her sailor

We spend our whole lives waiting
For the party begin
For the critics to take notice
Or for the Browns to win

You think perhaps this pessimism
May my soul diminish
The poem isn’t over friends
Wait! Please let me finish

Waiting means we’re hoping
And it’s good to be alive
Waiting for Godot
Or our Producer to arrive

It may be an old bromide
But it’s one that bears restating
The best things that we get in life
Are those well worth the waiting.
