They say that love is blind, my friends

But politics is blinder

Forgive me if you’ve heard this

But we all need a reminder

So if, when viewing media

It all seems out of kilter

Remember what you’re seeing there

Is coming through a filter

The punditry is windy

And our studies all are showing

It pays to raise a question

On the way their wind is blowing

Sincerity’s abandoned

And the truth is getting shafted

In that room where every morning

All the talking points are crafted

So when a politician tells you

All that she’ll deliver

You shouldn’t get a tingle

Rather, I suggest a shiver

And if somebody mentions

It’s all over but the shouting

Remember the old adage

That there’s benefit in doubting

If you thrive on incredulity

You’ve really had a feast

Under B. Hussein Obama

Distrust has just increased

For none have broken faith

With such impunity as he

And when his term is done

That’s what his legacy will be

Beware the empty promises

And choirs that they shout them to

And even from your favorites, son

You’d better learn to doubt them too

I know I come across as cranky

Jaundiced and dyspeptic

But if you ask my party…

I’m an Independent Skeptic
