I never doubted government

No not in the slightest

For the people we elected

Were the best-est and the brightest

Their ideas were spectacular

Their plans would never fail

For they likely went to Harvard

Or if not, they went to Yale

Lately, though, their leadership

Is more of a disaster

And I think that second graders

Could solve our problems faster

The reason that we citizens

Are managing their messes

They’re really ALL

Alexandria Octavio-Cortezes

Reviewing their credentials

I’m unhappy to report

Their attitudes are lofty

But their resumes are short

Their intellect and insight

Are far less that I expected

And all that they’ve accomplished

Has been getting re-elected

In Washington, incompetence

Has got our nation shuttered

Workers get no salaries

And no one’s bread gets buttered

While out here in Los Angeles

This most progressive town

Teachers left the classrooms

And the talks have broken down

What motivates my anger and

Increases my frustration

Is what seems to be an attitude of

No negotiation

Go put yourselves behind closed doors

Whisper, talk or shout

And until you reach agreements

Just don’t bother to come out
