I’m criticized, quite rightly
For my failure to commit
Appraising each decision
As a fifty/fifty split v

Believing what they told us
From those Ivy League salons
That really clever people
Always weigh the pros and cons

So, for my indecision
I won’t shoulder any blame
For increasingly the pros and cons
weigh in about the same

In Israel while winnowing
The kernels from the chaff
Voters in Jerusalem
Split their house in half

In Britain where the BBC
Has pollsters on retainers
The kingdom is divided
Twixt leavers and remainers

In politics, the Democrats
Can’t seem to choose their hero
All that they agree on is
De Blasio’s at zero

Cleveland fans are muddled
On their optimal approach
Should they point the finger
At the GM or the coach

How I long for yesterday
When every prince and peon
Despite a world of differences
Found things they could agree on

Everyone would rise and pledge
Allegiance to the state
Now even jokes and pronouns
Are subjects for debate

I searched for some proposal
Where there might be no dissent
But “Resolved: The sky is blue”
Just polled at fifty-one percent
